Posted in Magazines with tags , , , , , , , on April 29, 2010 by The Goodie Bag

ACCLAIM Magazine’s new issue has just hit shelves.  The issue is dedicated to Japan, and is a progression for the publication and a captivating taste of things to come from Australia’s premier street lifestyle title, which has undergone a fresh design shake-up in line with its new themed issues.  Guest-edited by Pete Le Chic of progressive label For The Homies, the Japan issue goes straight to the source, with one-on-one interviews with some of the biggest movers and shakers of the current creative culture scene, some of whom have never given Western interviews before.

The cover sets off the stand-out issue with an image shot for ACCLAIM by iconic Japanese photographer, Yasuma “YONE” Yonehara.  This is continued inside with an exclusive 12-page shoot by YONE, featuring his signature Japanese female models in a selection of For The Homies garments.

A limited edition poster from the shoot will be available exclusively to subscribers and readers who purchase the issue at one of ACCLAIM’s upcoming launch parties held in Melbourne, Sydney, and Singapore.  Magazines purchased at the launches will also come in a unique ACCLAIM and For The Homies co-branded tote bag created specially for the issue.  These are limited to 150 pieces worldwide.

The issue contains the gamut of Japanese creative culture, from Cheki cameras to the nation’s unqiue take on denim and hamburgers.  Other personalities and designers featured in the magazine include:

  • Verbal & Yoon of Ambush Design.
  • Satoshi Suzuki of Loopwheeler.
  • Designer Big-O of Phenomenon and Swagger.
  • Artist Hajime Sorayama.
  • Producers and DJ’s Dexpistols.
  • G-Shock Watch Creator Kikuo Ibe.
  • Female Racecar Driver and Designer Mai Izukawa.
  • Yasuma “YONE” Yonehara.

Here’s the 2nd single off of Thank Me Later entitled “Find Your Love” produced by the amazing Kanye West.  It’s a bit different than the typical Drake music that you’re used to hearing; it’s an up-tempo R&B song.  In fact, Drake doesn’t rap at all in this one, he sings throughout the whole track.  Thank Me Later is due to release on June 15th, 2010.  Mark your calendars…

When street promotions is mentioned, a common thought is a bunch of Joe Blows putting out product in the streets.  In this documentary, CSR Promotions will show you that there is more to street promotions then just passing out flyers & hanging up posters.  Follow CSR Promotions in “A The Day In The Life” to see how they start and finish their day.  Whether it’s setting up an album release campaign or going to different stores and radio stations and using their relationships in the community to promote different nightclubs & local businesses, CSR will show you that their consistent grind, relationships, drive, and customer service are the keys to their success.  CSR shows you that if street promotions are treated like a business, it can become a glamorous, well paying, fun job!
