Having announced a partnership with Visvim earlier this year, Italian down company Moncler continues their good form having just released details of another collaboration, this time with Pharrell Williams and his textile company, Bionic.  Using his company’s technology, which recycles bottles and turns it in to yarns and fabric, Pharrell has designed a reversible puffer vest – inspired by a traditional bullet-proof vest.  The lining of the jacket has a print designed by Japanese artist, Keita Sugiura, who is known for his nature inspired creations.

The Visvim and Pharrell collaborations will be part of a new collection from the Italian based company called, Moncler V.  This collection will have the company work on numerous projects with various artists around the world.  Stockist information and release dates to come.

Nigo Cedes Roles At A Bathing Ape!

nigoAn interesting article was just published by WWD about the re-organization of A Bathing Ape. Nigo will actually stepping down as president and director of the brand and will be staying on as designer.

“Nigo said he will continue as the majority owner of Nowhere Co., Ltd., A Bathing Ape’s parent company.  He will also continue as the designer of A Bathing Ape (also known as Bape) as well as his partnership with singer/producer Pharrell Williams in the Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream brands, where he is co-owner and head designer.”

It seems like a pretty standard move.  As the brand grows and became too big, the founder stays on as the creative director and business people take over the reigns.  Let’s see if this will cause some changes at the brand.

UPDATE: We heard that next seasons Bape collection is actually designed entirely by Tet from WTAPS.  Tet is taking over the Creative director position for next season.  We are definitely looking forward to the new season and can only imagine the best to come out of it.
