Adeen, hustleGRL, Nero. Three young people paving the way through the industry, making a way for themselves and other young people. A few weeks ago we all got together for what was just supposed to be a hang out session, but everything turns into a photoshoot when we’re around. Rooftops are so chill.

Posted in Events, Music with tags Chip Tha Ripper, Dot Da Genius, illRoots, Kid Cudi, Nero, Santos Party House on July 24, 2010 by Kameelah SudlowLast night, Chip Tha Ripper killed the stage at Santos Party House in NYC. illRoots along with Crack Distributors Radio, The Hip Hop Update, and DCtoBC presented this show as part of Chip’s on-going promotional Gift Raps tour. Usually when I go to any show, I naturally expect there to be opening acts. Just about one or two; but I received a reality check when Santos brought out about 10 performers to warm-up the stage for Chip. This wasn’t a bad thing, just rather lengthy. I did get to see some friends of ours including Nero, Futuristic Lingo, Terry Urban, and Dot Da Genius all grace the stage though.
Lucky for us, Kid Cudi came out as a surprise guest to support his homie Chip which really lifted my spirits for the rest of the night. They performed many songs that they’ve recorded together including “Hyyer” and “All Talk”. The energy from the crowd was amazing, and the support shown from New York was incredible for Chip. Nero Laced With Bloodbath
Posted in Celebrity Endorsers with tags BloodBath, illRoots, Mike Waxx, Nero, Peter Coultas, The Goodie Bag on January 25, 2010 by The Goodie BagNero was recently laced with some Bloodbath gear for a photoshoot that he just had a few days back. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Nero, get familiar! Rappers often fixate on the term “lyrical” both on and off record. It’s a choice word to rhyme with “miracle” but few MC’s in today’s overcrowded game live up to such a description as does Nero, the 16 year old Harlemite. Queens bred in 1993, hip-hop has been something that was always in his blood.
Having released the golden era tribute ‘Alive & Vibrant’ in January 2009 and it’s reissue entitled ‘Alive & Vibrant: Relive The Moment’ in July of the same year, it seems only right that his real debut is painted over production from the age he was born in, built by those he grew up listening. The project, estimated to have been downloaded over ten thousand times, boasts original features from the likes of Chip Tha Ripper, Truck North, Hassaan Mackey and others, has been picked up by such blogs and websites as HipHopDX, NahRight, 2DopeBoyz, OnSMASH, illRoots and countless others. One site has praised ‘A&V’ for its “vintage sound”, comparing the project to Nas’ highy acclaimed debut album, ‘Illmatic’, while mixtape mecca RapMullet states that Nero is “a definite MC to be checking for”. Two music videos have been released for ‘A&V’, including ‘Buck Em Down’ which won an award for “Best Music” in the 2009 Westport Youth Film Festival.
What’s next for young Nero? A lot. His new music is poised to make ‘Alive & Vibrant’ seem like only a prefix as Nero challenges himself, expanding both his musical and lyrical landscapes on a unique and completely different canvas than its predicate.
