“I don’t like to stop,” Wayne tells RS‘ Chris Norris. “I believe you stop when you die.” So in the weeks before he reports to Rikers Island, Wayne is keeping busy — recording tracks bound for Tha Carter IV (the album Cash Money staffers call “C4″ because it’ll be the bomb), shooting videos with his Young Money protégés, spending time with his growing family, and deliberately not asking anyone for advice about life on the inside. “This is Lil Wayne going to jail. Nobody I can talk to can tell me what that’s like,” he says. “I just say I’m looking forward to it.”
While Weezy’s away, his label is relocating to New York to be near him, and his manager Cortez Bryant is exploring ways to keep Wayne in his fans’ minds for the duration — from jailhouse Twitter accounts to endorsements. “I’ll have an iPod, and I”ll make sure they keep sending me beats,” Lil Wayne says. Tha Carter IV — which Norris is told features tougher, faster beats — is scheduled to arrive shortly after he gets out.

SUP , MY NAME IS DERICK G. I AM A PHOTOGRAPHER/VIDEOGRAPHER BASED OUT OF MIAMI…I’M KNOWN FOR MY EXCLUSIVE HIP HOP CONTENT…. I HAVE THE PRIVILEGE TO TRAVEL AND WORK WITH SOME OF THE BIGGEST NAMES IN HIP HOP.
Most of us recognize your name / work from most Young Money / Cash Money videos and photos. How did your relationship with Young Money / Cash Money come about?
I HAD SHOT A FEW THINGS FOR YOUNG MONEY CASH MONEY THREW MY PEOPLE OVER AT 305 FILMS AS A BEHIND THE SCENES PHOTOGRAPHER/VIDEOGRAPHER FOR THE PRODUCTION COMPANY… I REALLY HOOKED UP WITH CASH MONEY ON THE “MONEY TO BLOW” SHOOT…I TOOK THIS 1 SPECIFIC PICTURE THAT BIRDMAN WANTED TO PRINT FOR HIS HOUSE AND THATS WHAT REALLY STARTED THE BALL ROLLING WITH YMCMB.
What’s a typical day in your life / job like?
EVERYDAY IS DIF. DEPENDS WHO IM TRAVELING WITH OR WHAT CITY I WAKE UP IN, BUT 1 THING IS FOR SURE NO TWO DAYS ARE EVER ALIKE.
How did this type of work interest you and how did you get started?
I HAVE ALWAYS LOVE TAKIN PICS…I WAS THAT KID IN SCHOOL TAKING PICTURES DURING LUNCH AND AT ALL THE FIELDTRIPS AND NO 1 WOULD BRING A CAMERA EVERY 1 WOULD JUST ASK ME FOR DOUBLES….I WENT PRO ABOUT 4 YEARS BACK WHEN I GOT MY 1ST PRO CAM. I HAVENT LOOKED BACK YET…..
How did you get your job? What jobs and experiences have led you to your present position?
I AM SELF EMPLOYED SO I HIRED MYSELF? IF THAT MAKES ANY SENCE…LOL.. IT ALL STARTED WITH MY LOVE FOR CARS…I AM A GEAR HEAD I COME FROM THE CAR CULTURE..I STARTED PROVIDING CUSTOM CARS FOR MUSIC VIDEOS AND MOVIES ABOUT 7 YEARS BACK SO THATS HOW I WOULD GET ON ALL THESE BIG NAME VIDEO SETS…ONCE I GOT MY CAMERA I STARTED TAKING IT TO SET AND GETTING BEHIND THE SCENES PICTURES FOR MY CARS …LONG STORY SHORT I GOT MY REAL EXCLUSIVE BREAK WHEN I HOOKED UP WITH GIL GREEN AFTER THE DJ KHALED “WE TAKING OVER” SET AND SENT HIM A FEW PICTURES I TOOK AND HE LOVED THEM AND FROM THEN ON HE JUST KEPT INVITING ME TO ALL HIS SETS.
Can you suggest some ways a student could obtain this necessary experience?
TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ENJOY YOUR CAMERA,PUT IT TO USE
What are the most important personal satisfactions and dissatisfactions connected with your occupation? What part of this job do you personally find most satisfying? Most challenging? What do you like and not like about working in this industry?
PERSONAL SATISFACTIONS IS BEING ABLE TO KEEP TESTING MYSELF AND SEEING WHAT ELSE I CAN ACHIVE , PERSONAL DISSATISFACTION IS VERY LITTLE PERSONAL TIME. MOST CHALLENGING IS TAKING PIC,FILMING ,EDITING , TRAVELING, & POSTING IT ONLINE ALL IN A TIMELY MANNER…I AM A 1 MAN ARMY FOR THE MOST PART SO I DO ALOT…24/8
