Oliver Peoples x Balmain Sunglasses

Balmain collaborates with Oliver Peoples, the Los Angeles-based eyewear design company, to create its first eyewear designs: two (2) Limited Edition sunglass styles to be introduced Spring of 2010.

Known for its progressive yet understated designs and handcrafted quality, Oliver Peoples has over 20 years of experience as a leader in the eyewear industry. “The collaboration with Christophe and his team felt completely natural,” says Oliver Peoples Founder and Creative Director, Larry Leight. “The brands make sense together from a design standpoint in that both maintain an inspirational position and value a premium level of quality. Those who want the best in runway turn to Balmain, and those who want the best in eyewear turn to Oliver Peoples.”

Consistent with the 2010 Balmain collections, the bold, unisex styles reflect sleek, contemporary design elements and feature exaggerated teardrop lenses in a comfortable, face-fitting wrap. The Balmain I is a rock-n-roll-inspired, mixed-media style crafted with a smooth metal top bar fastened by four screws against the acetate-enclosed lenses to provide the illusion of a frame front. The temples include a flexible hinge that allows for greater bendable movement. This version will be available in solid black and a black/silver combination. The Balmain II is an inventive interpretation of the classic double-bridge aviator. The pronounced, slightly thicker top bar creates a more distinctive look, while retaining the signature styling. Available in gold or silver, this version is available in two sizes and flatters most faces.

Dee & Ricky x Pepsi Logo Brooches

Dee & Ricky have been commissioned by Pepsi and Epiphany to produce a limited-edition run of Pepsi-logo branded brooches. True to their style, the twin duo have once again flipped pop iconography and re-contextualized it into their unique language of LEGO mastery. The pins were made in a super-limited quantity, with the first batch being gifted to a select range of cultural influencers. A later retail release date will be announced in the near future.

Nike Sportswear Spring 2010 Auto Flight Hi

Nike just made available the new Spring 2010 edition Auto Flight Hi’s.  I mostly stick to SB’s, Jordan’s, or luxury sneakers but this time around I’ll be forced to make an exception.  These are now available at select Nike retailers including The Darkside Initiative in San Francisco.  I’ll definitely be making some calls tomorrow to see if any shops offer international shipping.

Maison Martin Margiela Spring / Summer 2010 New Releases

New releases from Maison Martin Margiela have just shipped to finer retailers.  Consisting mostly of suits and coats, the collection takes on a clean design aesthetic with classic colour usage.  A set of wallets rounds out January’s launch of Maison’s Spring / Summer line.  All goods are now available at Oki-Ni.

MAJOR AM95 New Era Fitted Cap

Inspired by the Nike Air Max 95, MAJOR DC whip up a New Era cap which looks to accompany the re-release of the grey/neon AM95 next month.  An exact release is set for February 20th, 2010 with further information behind the design available below.

Inspired by the greatest running shoe of all time, our team came up with several iconic cues to tie the fitted back to the shoes that we all have multiple pairs of. Starting out with the 3M reflective grey front panel, we built gradient side panel to showcase the grey, while finishing out the rear of the cap with the reflective applique patch inspired by the unique look of the AM95 heel. On the center of the patch is the “major” branding in pill design, which is the first time we have ever used all lowercase for branding. Details are very important to our team, and we incorporated the white mesh overlay on the undervisor, as well as the orange MAJOR woven label on the inside, which will accompany all upcoming releases inspired by our favorite sneakers.

DWG – “Weed N’ Bars” Mixtape

DWG is a new rap group from Lansing, Michigan.  DWG stands for Da Winded Guys and this is thier first official release.  They rap over some classic beats along with a few original tracks produced by BeatHead.  The CD was hosted by another Lansing native DJ Eclipse.  As the name suggests the CD consists of a lot of Marijuana related content.

The mixtape also has alot of famous movie snippets in it that add a bit of humour to the project.
