Surf Club producer Chase N. Cashe just released this wonderful mixtape of sweet instrumentals. The New Orleans native comes with an interesting approach on tracks like “Space Cowboy”, “Fresh Out”, and “Tetris”. This mixtape will have you nodding your head from the beginning to the end. Also, if you’re an emcee or aspiring artists there’s plenty of dope tracks available to practice your rhyming skills. Be sure to stay in tune for what The Surf Club has in store next. Karla “hustleGRL” Moy a good friend of ours did an outstanding job on the artwork for this project.

Aquaforce – “Ghost” [Video]

Off of the Burgundy mixtape, KPLtv presents Aquaforce’s “Ghost”.  This video is very special to the people at KPLtv as it represents the power of social networking and teamwork.

About 1 month ago, KPLtv founder DirtyRed12 heard a snipped of Aquaforce’s track “Wolves” in a SXSW video recap.  He saw no images, only heard the track.  He then asked his intern, Hugh Augustine MC, if he knew of them as he went to school in New Orleans and low and behold, he did.

To make a long story short, after a couple of e-mails and chats on Twitter, he went to New Orleans to meet them.  The video represents the fruit of their discussion.

Look out for Aquaforce’s new mixtape, The Tony Earl Project releasing on June 21st.

INTERVIEW: Lawrence Parker (Traffic Boutique)

Please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about what you do.

What up world…My name is Law A.K.A. Mr. Traffic A.K.A. Mr. Cracktracks.  What I do is set standards of what’s fresh in my city and produce cool music.

What is life like up in New Orleans, as far as music, nightlife, fashion, and popular culture?

The lifestyle of fashion, music, and nightlife has taken off.  We have more people thinking outside of the box who are willing to try different things.  We have a nice amount of hip-hop artists on the scene, and I’m starting to see more and more people ahead of the curve on fashion.  We also have some nice local designers, bloggers, and promoters down here.  And everyone is working together.  It’s all love.

Tell us a little about Traffic Boutique and the people involved.

Traffic Boutique is the first streetwear boutique in the New Orleans, LA area.  We are located at 212 Chartres St., New Orleans, LA 70130 (In the French Quarters).  We house all of the hottest brands from Diamond Supply Co., Crooks & Castles, RockSmith, Alife, Hellz Bellz, Bloodbath, and Dope Couture, just to name a few.  I have 3 locations now: New Orleans, LA; Dallas, TX; and Columbus, GA.  I have a partner at each location, and they play a major role on how we take on each city…So it’s perfect!

What are some of your favourite brands out right now?

My favourite brands out right now are RockSmith, Diamond Supply Co., Dope Couture, NV Euro, and Mad Endz.

What new upcoming events or releases are you currently working on?

Right now I’m working on my forth location.  Atlanta, GA here we come baby.  New music with my group Aquaforce.  Make sure you check them out on Twitter and MySpace.  You can see them at SXSW on March 19th at the Fire House Lounge.  Also a concert with Jay Electronica soon, that’s going to be crazy!  He’s holding New Orleans down, and some new tracks with Curren$y.  Also the GoodWood x Traffic Boutique customs, so be on the look-out for that.

What would you say are the most difficult aspects of being in your line of work?

The hardest part is making sure everyone gets a chance to shine.  I feel my job right now it to get New Orleans, as a whole on the map, with new faces, whether it be fashion or music.  So I’m leading in that way.  I have the streetwear edition concerts, so I make sure our local artists hit the stage, and I make sure each local design get their designs promoted and branded!

The fashion and music worlds are often tied together…What music artists out right now are grabbing your attention?

AQUAFORCE…Remember that name!  But I’m feeling everyone in New Orleans.  I’m loving where we’re at right now.

Thank you for taking the time to speak with us Lawrence.  Do you have any last words or shout-outs?

First God, my fam, the Traffic fam, Supreme Street, and the entire city of New Orleans.
